An Up-to-Date Timely Tour through all parts of the Holyland with a thorough explanation of its past and photographs of its present of every essential place of interest to everybody interested in the most remarkable country in all the world. With some references to its remarkable future.
A. F. Futterer. Los Angeles. California. 1931
First edition. Presentation copy from the Author, "Compliments of Author Explorer A. F. Futterer, May 8th 1951." 478pp. + yellow errata slip to rear. Maps to e/ps, tinted coloured photo frontis, very large foldout photo of Jerusalem with key points numbered, profusely illustrated with photographs and illustrations from original sources. Original illustrated blue cloth, spine faded. Pages browned o/w VG+. A most extraordinary volume. The eccentricity of Futterer cannot be exaggerated but he does have a huge working knowledge of Palestine and all its inhabitants at this time. This period covers the British Mandate. The details of his tours, the peoples, his view of the religious histories and the evidence for Jesus being the Messiah are placed alongside photos of our man, the variety of inhabitants and the famous on holiday which include snaps of Princess Mary and also the two young sons of Mussolini. He proposes the whereabouts of the Lost Ark and fills in the details of what others have said about it. He has ideas on the ten lost tribes and he makes archaeological finds in Petra and other regions of the middle-east. This is a wonderful volume. 40083
