	1 BUKOWSKI, Charles. Original Letter to Jon and Lou Webb. (Publishers of "The Outsider" which brought the work of Bukowski to national attention.) Los Angeles, California. 1965  Letter is dated 7-16-65 and is typed, 48 lines long on an A4 sheet. It has one two word insertion in biro and 7 grammatical corrections, also in biro, by Bukowski. It is signed in biro, "Buk". It starts, "my god, it's so sad about the press, I couldn't even write when I got your card. I know how tenderly you treated it and the miracles it has worked for all of us...." the letter also contains an interesting comment on French modern literature, "I am reading JOURNEY TO THE END OF THE NIGHT by Celine, and for me, he's a better writer than the early Sartre, better than Camus, and certainly better than Genet. he can write, he can write, oh, how that baby can write!!!" Also "...and listen, what's the matter with those fuckers at Stuart's? mixing all the copies? looks like they are out to get us -- first that, then the press. But the books are there, the OUTSIDERS... we have CRASHED THROUGH, yes, but a man does like to go on a while longer, you know....I hope you are not too terribly down and blue, although I can't see how you can feel otherwise...." A good copy with the original mailing envelope in Bukowski's own hand. Lou and Jon Webb produced the literary magazine "The Outsider" in the 1960s. Apart from being the first to promote the work of Bukowski, they also published work by Kerouac and Ferlinghetti. For the first issue of "The Outsider" the Webbs under the banner of "The Loujon Press" painstakingly printed every page of every copy individually on an archaic hand-press at their French Quarter New Orleans appartment. Under the Loujon Press imprint, they published Bukowski's "It Catches My Heart in Its Hands" 1963 and "Crucifix in a Deathhand" in 1965. 30978  Price: 500.00 GBP Add to Shopping Cart
	2 BUKOWSKI, Charles. Screams from the Balcony. Selected letters 1960-1970. Edited by Seamus Cooney Black Sparrow Press. Santa Rosa. 1993  First edition. Limited to 300 copies, SIGNED BY BUKOWSKI, this being number 109, with an original silkscreen print by Bukowski. Apart from some sl. signs of dustiness, an unusually fine copy in the original glacine wrapper. There were 600 special hardcopy editions produced signed by Bukowski and 326 numbered and lettered copies, handbound by Earle Grey, each with an original print.
