1 GREEN, F. H. Old English Clocks. Being a Collector's Observations on Some Seventeenth Century Clocks. Together with over Fifty Plates Taken from Photographs of the Finest Specimens.
St Dominics Press. Ditchling Common. 1931
Limited to 300 copies, this copy being un-numbered. Printed at Eric Gill's Press. DW. 4to. 89pp. 50 plates of various sizes tipped-in. A beautifully produced book. Original buff bds., top edge gilt. Fine in wrapper that lacks portions at head and tail of spine and is torn at hinge. The author states that he only realised late on in production that the plates of the clocks would be more attractive if the same size as the pages of text. The last 10 plates are indeed very ordinary. F. H. Green was wrong, the variety of the previous plates tipped-in to different parts of the pages give the book a unique feel as if you are handling an individual album. This book was hand-created with such love, of the subject matter and of fine book production. 18539
