The Folio Society. First edition thus. 2013. Limited to 1000 copies, this being number 447. In two volumes in a brown cloth clamshell box which has a separate compartment for the smaller explanatory volume. This facsimile edition has been produced from the originals held at the Yale Centre for British Art. It was produced by Dot Gradations, Wickford, Essex, and printed by Appl, Germany on Natural Evolution paper. It has been bound in quarter Nigerian goatskin leather by Zanardi, Padova, Italy. The cloth boards have been printed and gilt blocked with a design by David Eccles based on Blake's original drawing. Gold endpapers. The facsimile volume is very large 4to. The second volume 8vo and bound in grey cloth gilt. Both volumes are fine and housed in a brown cloth clam-shell case, with very slight signs of shelf-wear. 72481

All three volumes are housed in blue cloth clam shell box which has a separate compartment for the smaller explanatory volume. This facsimile edition has been reproduced by digital photography from the original edition in the British Museum. Each folio comprising a letterpress page framed by a pen and watercolour drawing. It has been printed by Bath Press, Blantyre on Modigliani Neve Paper. It has been bound in quarter Nigerian goatskin leather by Smith Settle of Otley. The cloth boards have been printed and silver blocked with a design by David Eccles based on Blake's original drawings. Silver handmade endpapers. Small nick or publisher's fault to the front cover of volume two (see photos.) otherwise fine in blue clam shell box that houses all three volumes neatly. 72483

Decorations to endpapers. 16 mounted coloured plates, also bordered, as is the title page.The illustrations have an Edward Bawden quality to them. 20 FITZGERALD, Edward. Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. The First Version of Edward Fitzgerald. THE FIRST FOLIO SOCIETY EDITION.
The Folio Society. 1955. Small slim square 8vo bound in patterned silk, presented in a gold clam shell box. Illustrated with four coloured and gilt miniatures from a then recently discovered manuscript, dated 911 C.E. which was believed to be the earliest Persian Illuminated Manuscript of this poem. The great painter and miniaturist of this period who worked for the Sultan Husayn Bayqara was Bihzad of Herat. The publishers believe at least one of these illustrations is by him and the others of his school as the style is very similar. Fine in a very slightly rubbed gold box with a small patch darkened to rear, and a red paper title piece to front. 72894
