The Folio Society. London. 2009. First edition. The map has been beautifully reproduced on Neobond by Beacon Press and is as if printed on vellum, with the same heaviness and smooth texture. It is rolled and tied with a red silk ribbon and presented in a blue box blocked in gilt and lined with red velour. The box closes with a small attractive brass clasp and is very slightly spotted to lid. The commentary volume is illustrated throughout in colour and is a fine copy in slipcase with only the slightest signs of use. 80324

The Folio Society. London. 2005. LIMITED EDITION OF 1000 COPIES, this copy being number 65. First edition. Elephant folio in size. This is a facsimile reproduction of the atlas Queen Mary commissioned as a gift for her husband, Philip of Spain. It has been reproduced from the original in the British Library by means of digital photography by Laurence Pordes and printed at Cambridge University Press on Fuiroso paper supplied by John Purcell. There are 12 double-page maps and charts, each measuring 31" x 22˝", Each map mounted on a guard , so that it opens absolutely flat. The atlas is bound in full red full grain calf, gilt by Smith Settle of Ottley with an elaborate coat of arms designed by David Eccles to upper board. The smaller companion volume of commentary is to be found in a separate compartment to the large matching red and gilt solander box which houses them both. Very slight signs of use to box, the books are as new. 80323
